If you’re looking way to help your neighbours and community, and are juggling other commitments then there are still ways you can lend an occasional hand.
Mutual Aid Groups have sprung up across the country and Haringey has seen a huge mobilisation, with over 20 local groups in the area, some of which are supported by local Haringey councillors. You can also join discussions and find out more on what’s taking place locally, if it’s not something you want to jump straight into.
Even simple things can help, like translating shopping lists or letters, phoning those isolating or collecting prescriptions and shopping. The idea is that with everyone within the group working together everyone helps a little in the week.
To find your local mutual aid group, the Haringey Facebook is a great way to start or to make contact with a group nearest to you then the postcode search is easy to use.
Alternatively, if you are looking for other ways to help, Haringey Council have set up a portal and electronic mailing list to keep you fully up-to-date. For more information visit haringey.gov.uk/i-want-help-volunteers-and-mailing-list.
