Reminiscence Café @ The Castle

Picture Gallery – bring your school photo!

  • Tuesday 18 April, 2-4pm

Free, refreshments provided

Reminiscence café @ the castle

The annual school photo is an enduring ritual going back to Edwardian times, when girls sported white aprons and boys their white collars. The class photo became less formal between the wars and later we see the move from everyday clothes to school uniforms of sweatshirts in primary school and blazers in secondary.

Bruce Castle has a large collection of earlier pictures for us to look at, but you must have quite a few at home. Bring them along and we will see if we can spot you in the line-up. And of course any stories you have of your school and the children and teachers in your pictures.

Come along, enjoy a cup of tea and share your memories.

As well as this, you will have a chance to see and hear the story behind the ‘Rigden Chair’, the seat used by Wood Green’s Mayors until 1965.

This is a fantastic opportunity to see items from the collection at Bruce Castle Museum & Archive not regularly on display and discover the history behind them!

We hope to see you there.
