The Club is taking a fresh approach to its annual Christmas toy deliveries, usually made to hospitals, working with children’s centres in Haringey and Enfield to ensure gifts are provided to local young people and families experiencing hardship.

The three players visited Craig Park Youth Centre in Edmonton after training on Friday in order to deliver Club-donated toys such as Lego, board games and arts & crafts. The event included festive activities followed by some light-hearted games.

England international Jess, who herself grew up in Enfield, explained the importance of the Club providing this support to our community. She said: “I have grown up here, this community has given me so much, and my football career started here, so to be able to give back and put a smile on the young peoples’ faces is great.”

Luana added: “Christmas is about family and sharing moments together, and I think that was what today was all about, helping brighten the day for people in a difficult situation.”

Bethany said: “It’s been an amazing day – it is always a privilege to be able to give back to our community as not everyone has a support network. I think that’s what is great about Christmas – knowing that there is someone out there who cares and is there to support you.”

Enfield Council’s Leader, Cllr Ergin Erbol, said: “It is so important to inspire young people, which is why we are absolutely thrilled to welcome some of the country’s best female football players to Enfield. These positive role models are critical for young people’s personal development. Thank you Spurs for coming to Edmonton Green in Enfield and for spreading some Christmas joy.”

The Club sits within one of London’s most deprived areas and has long recognised its responsibility to support vulnerable people within its communities during the Christmas period.

Men’s players will also be making Christmas toy deliveries to children’s centres later this month, with further activity including Club foodbank donations and a delivery of hampers to hospital staff also planned.

The Club already became the inaugural sporting partner of the Multibank Christmas Campaign, with players, staff and fans donating essential products to combat the issue of hygiene poverty across our communities.
